1950 – 2023
Earlier this year, Francis, our great friend and professional photographer, died. He was a founder member of Willingham Photo Club and attended every meeting. He critiqued our photographs, offering advice, encouragement, and praise. Along with Stephen, he judged the images in the Annual Exhibition, which he steadfastly manned – engaging with visitors and chatting to club members in quieter moments.
He gave the club many talks on aspects of photography, provided guidance and equipment for practical sessions, led photo tours around Cambridge and always provided entries for the club’s assignments.
We will miss him enormously – his outstanding professionalism, his excellent sense of humour, his collapsible bike on the roads of Willingham, his deep knowledge of Cambridge, and his warm, heartfelt greetings at every meeting.
I’ve gathered all his assignment photos here in this gallery.
